Which vaccine are you administering at The Bennelong Medical Clinic?
Is the AstraZeneca vaccine safe?
Yes, it is safe to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine. Australian health authorities have reported two patients under the age of 50 as having a rare blood clotting episode after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine. This resulted in the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) recommending that people under 50 years of age receive the Pfizer vaccine, unless the benefits of early vaccination with AstraZeneca clearly outweigh the risks. Patients of all ages who have received their first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine without any serious side effects can be given the second dose.
